Joe was many things to many people. Father, husband, brother, professor, mentor, RPG expert, friend, and so much more. It's impossible to sum him up in a few paragraphs or fully capture the perspectives of his wide circle of family and friends. But being an author had been his goal since childhood. He had an empathetic heart and an incredible imagination--and the kind of creative drive many people lose along life's twists and turns.

 

Like many writers, he had a circuitous path to making the author dream come true. From being enlisted in the military to commercial electricity,  to teaching, and a lot of roles in between, he was always writing. Joe wasn't able to be a full-time author until cancer took away his ability to do his "day job".  Not exactly his plan, but he spent the last three years of his life focused solely on the creative outlets that brought him the most joy. 

 

He also always told the people around him how much he loved and valued them, and he respected and understood his audience--kids--in a way that made them feel seen and loved, also.

Joe published over 40 books, and at the creation of this tribute website, some are yet to be released.

 

His legacy will continue as long as we continue to turn the page.
